R. Flex
R. Flex dares to change the shape of R&B. Having released the brash hyperpop cut “Club Naked” ft. C’Nee Starlette earlier in 2023, they’re gearing up to reshape the parameters of R&B once more. Their 2022 EP FLEX WITH BENEFITS was named by Exclaim Magazine as one of the albums you shouldn’t miss. Bandcamp followed suit calling it one of best soul releases in April. Their song “Too Late” spawned a new bxy band called BLCK*SYNC while landing on queer playlists in Amsterdam, Toronto, and New York. “Too Late” caught the attention of Polaris nominated Adam Sturgeon of Ombiigizi who tooted the song as a GTA banger in The Star.
Released later in 2022, their 2-track EP ONCE UPON A FLEX dove deeper into progressive R&B. By recalling the melancholic grooves of 80’s R&B, R. Flex’s deft vocal performances resulted in their most vulnerable work to date. Through their songwriting, they demonstrate their ability to sing about queer experiences that have always bubbled under the surface of the 80’s R&B in a way Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross wish they could.
Simply put, R. Flex is an underground star in the making. To date, their repertoire has been discovered globally, landing on queer playlists in Amsterdam, Toronto, and New York. This has led to them supporting the likes of Haiku Hands and Khalifa while also performing alongside BLCK*SYNC at the 2nd anniversary of Club Quarantine (one of the world’s biggest online dance parties). R. Flex is in demand and excited for you to CHECK THE FLEX!
