Helena Poison
Helena Poison is the emo queen of Toronto, renowned for her bold aesthetic, DIY artistry, and creative flair. She began her drag journey in 2014, driven by a desire to break free from the confines of traditional makeup artistry. A professionally trained makeup artist, Helena’s talents stretch far beyond the brush—she is a master of crafting her own costumes and looks, a true queen of DIY.
Helena's drag is heavily influenced by 2000s subcultures, merging elements of art, cartoons, movies, and music into a one-of-a-kind, striking style that makes her stand out in the Toronto drag scene. A staple of the Toronto Village, she’s become a beloved figure in Ontario’s drag community, known for her long-running Dirty Drag Bingo at O'Grady's on Church and co-hosting the Absolut Empires Ball.
A much sought-after designer, Helena’s iconic designs are frequently seen on queens from various seasons of Canada's Drag Race. As a performer, she channels her love for punk rock, frequently delivering electrifying covers of pop-punk hits, especially those by bands like First to Eleven and Halocene.
Helena’s undeniable stage presence and creativity led her to a top-four finish on Canada's Drag Race Season 5; and with her self-made creations and inspiring journey, Helena Poison continues to captivate audiences and fellow queens alike.
