The Julian and Sandy Sketches (or Polari for Dummies) is a staged reading event celebrating the lost gay language Polari, taking place June 25–26, 2025, at Toronto’s historic Foy House. Originally from the 1960s BBC radio show Round the Horne, the sketches humorously spotlight queer culture and secret codes used by gay men during times of persecution. This Canadian debut adapts London settings to Toronto and features mid-60s fashion, witty dialogue, and a post-show Q&A. Honouring history and resilience, the event aligns with Pride 2025’s theme, “ALL IN,” reviving Polari with humour, heart, and a downloadable lexicon for all.
