Long Live the Rainbow is a play exploring Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ community during the 1970s and 80s. The story begins in 1972 with two men, Roger and Matt, who undergo electro-shock therapy to “cure” their homosexuality. Matt, a journalist, seeks a way out, while Roger, a teacher, struggles with his identity. They meet Moe/Moereen, an immigrant who shows them unconditional love, and radical lesbians Sandy and Jo, who broadcast news in defiance of the law. As they wrestle with their pasts and seek a better future, the play highlights the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ acceptance amidst rising discrimination.
