Education and Training Topics

Pride Toronto is pleased to offer training for organizations who are invested in committing to social justice and providing professional development opportunities for their employees.

Each Training is 60 minutes, which includes a Q&A session, and comes with a Land Acknowledgement, and a guide to safer spaces. Training can be done in person (following COVID-19 Protocols) or on any video conferencing platform with sharing capabilities. It is recommended that your organization host the video.

This knowledge sharing session will cover all of the 2SLGBTQ+ Basics, and answer all of your questions – everything from “What does the + sign mean?” to “how can I better understand the trans individuals in my life?”

Allyship 101

There’s a lot of conversation around pronouns these days, but what are they and why are they so important? This course covers all of that as well as how to use them correctly and what to do if you make a mistake.

Trans Allyship

Over 75,000 Canadians identify as  trans or non-binary and as that number continues to rise, so to does the amount of discrimination aimed at Gender Diverse and Trans people –  at least three times more likely to report discrimination than Cis people. This session covers how to stand in solidarity with the Trans folks in our communities.

Accessible Customer Service

This knowledge sharing session is a companion piece to the AODA training by the Ontario Government. This session takes the AODA training further into better understanding the lives, wants, and needs of people with disabilities in public spaces.

Unlearning and Relearning Language

Words matter! Whether it be a formal setting, the classroom or with your  friends, the words you chose to use have an effect. This workshop is designed to talk openly about the language we use, some common word choices and tips to challenge yourself and your networks to continue to grow and evolve.

Hospitality and the 2SLGBTQ+ Community

When offering exemplary customer service it is important to ensure that all individuals are properly respected and cared for. Join this sessions to understand the importance of respecting the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, as well as tips and tricks to make your space an inclusive space.
