Current Positions

Finance and Payroll Manager
Part-Time, Permanent –
21h/week, $33.00 – $43.00

The Finance and Payroll Manager is responsible for the financial health of Pride Toronto and oversees the overall financial management of funds. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Finance and Payroll Manager will oversee all accounts payable and receivable to ensure Pride Toronto is in compliance with all operational financial policies and procedures and other governing bodies. They will oversee all financial administration, recommend streamlined processes and ensure all financial risk is assessed and addressed. They will also have oversight on cash flow, financial forecasting, audit facilitation and budget creation.

Responsibilities

Managing all bookkeeping and accounting needs, including, but not limited to, accounts payables, receivables (including in-kind values), distribution of approved funds, reconciliation of all financial statements, HST and other tax remittances needed

  •  Administering payroll to all salary and contract employees. This would include issuing ROEs, T4s, T4As, vacation time (if applicable)
  • Creating monthly financial reports,  forecasts and cash flow projections to ensure Pride Toronto is able to maintain a positive operating cash flow. These reports are to assist and advise senior leadership on future business decisions and the possible financial impacts 
  • Ensuring all reconciling is happening and closing each month in a timely manner in the preparation of an annual audit
  • Liaison with Pride Toronto’s auditors to ensure Pride Toronto is compliant with all legal and regulatory financial obligations 
  • Assist with various grant writing and fund development including financial reporting and forecasts, support project analysis, validation of plans and ad-hoc requests 
  • Managing the budget creation process
  • Following up on all outstanding payables and receivables 
  • Developing and improving Pride Toronto’s financial policies as needed 
  • Develop strategies that work to minimize financial risk 
  • Correspond with departments, discussing company plans and advising on future financial paths
  • Complete various international tax forms as needed for various payments
  • Work closely with the Director of Operation to oversee all financial management for events, including festival weekends
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modelling for Pride Toronto leadership team
  • Reports directly to the Executive Director 
  • Other tasks as needed

     

Qualifications

  • CPA Certified or 2 -3 years experience in accounting
  • Prior experience with non-for-profit bookkeeping and financial management, particularly with lean organizations
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with CRA remittances and other international tax processes  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced with Excel and Quickbooks required
  • Experience with Receipt Bank and Plooto considered an asset
