Rainbow logos, black squares, orange or pink t-shirts, or public diversity statements are ways many have tried to showcase their intention to be inclusive. However, on their own, these measures do nothing to achieve objectives related to reconciliation, diversity, equity and inclusion, solidarity or allyship. Part of the ProPride 2022, this virtual panel will explore some of the deeper understandings of what drives inequities for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the workplace. We will showcase the results of ”Building the evidence base about economic, health, and social inequities faced by LGBTQ2S+ individuals in Canada” and explore examples of rainbow-washing and performative allyship.
