This week’s Team Canada Athlete: Krystina Alogbo
Host provided by Sportsnet.
Since earning MVP honours at the 2003 FINA World Junior Championships where Canada won gold, Krystina Alogbo has gone on to be one of the longest-serving members and captain of the national team. She made the move to the senior squad in 2005 and helped Canada win bronze at that year’s FINA World Championships. In 2009 she was part of two notable silver medal performances at the FINA Water Polo World League Super Final and at the FINA World Championships, being named MVP of the latter. In 2011 she was named female Water Polo Player of the Year by Swimming World magazine. Alogbo has won three straight silver medals at the Pan American Games in 2007, 2011 and 2015. In 2017, she was on the Canadian team that won silver in the World League Super Final and just missed the podium at the FINA World Championships.
