This week’s topic: Looking After Our Emotions
Emotional regulation and stress management are required skills in becoming an anti-oppressive communicator and creating an LGBT2Q+ friendly work environment. Participants will experience safety, healing and community. Specific information will be provided about how to identify and understand common emotions and trauma “triggers”. In addition,
participants will learn and practice various stress management and relaxation techniques.
Tenniel Brown, B.A., M.S.W., R.S.W. Since 2001 Tenniel Brown has been committed to providing accessible and transformative support services to individuals, families and groups in diverse communities across Canada. Tenniel has received a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, specialized in therapeutic practice with individuals, groups and families. She is an experienced facilitator, speaker, clinical supervisor and educator. Using an Anti-Oppressive, Trauma-informed, Eclectic approach she provides customized Counselling, Coaching, Training, Facilitation and Advising services to Individuals, Couples, Organizations and Groups. Through a combination of practice experience, extensive clinical training, theory (LifeSpan Development, Strength-Based Perspective, System Theory, Cognitive Theory, Postmodernism, Anti-Oppressive Approach, and Client-Centred Approach), and a unique intuitive sense passed down from her grandmother; Tenniel has been successful in assisting hundreds of people in transforming their lives and realizing their dreams. Tenniel has completed a 400hr-Yoga Teacher Training, specialized in Hot Hatha Yoga (Bikram Style) and Yin Yoga. She is passionate, caring and engaging yoga teacher, devoted to spreading her love of the asanas and breath work to black and racialized communities. Her classes incorporate breath work, dance, African indigenous healing, emotions focused therapy and postures; to create a truly transformational experience.
