Puppets with Pride; Crafting session
Hosted by CANVAS Arts Action Program’s Resident Artist, Joey

Follow Joey and his puppets on their journey of creating Pride in his own living room through crafts, including lessons on the history of pride, discovering the joys of self-expression, and the importance of celebrating diversity. You’ll meet characters the whole family will love, as together we go on a pipe-cleaner filled adventure to discover what Pride means for us. Material List

Coming out of the Shadows-Shadow Puppets (Easy Craft)

  • Construction Paper or Cardboard,
  • Popsicle Sticks,
  • Chopsticks, or Regular Sticks,
  • Tape or glue,
  • Markers  

Walk a Mile in their Socks- Sock Puppets (Trickier Craft) Sock,

  • Colourful Felt,
  • or Construction Paper,
  •   A hot glue gun,
  • Liquid white or clear glue,
  • Extra optional craft supplies (buttons, pompoms, pipe cleaners, googly eyes)

Giant Queer Creation Puppets (Trickiest Craft)

  • Corrugated Cardboard, 
  • Hot glue gun,
  • Upcycled fabric (old t-shirts, fabric, rags, curtains) 
  • Lots of plastic bags,
  • newspaper,
  • batting, or anything else to use as a filling,
  • Colourful Felt or Construction paper,
  • Extra optional craft supplies (buttons, pompoms, pipe cleaners, googly eyes).
