Artwork/Artist Statement
Angelique Vaillancourt, age:11Â
Angelique Vaillancourt won a Family Pride Art Contest in 2021. This piece of art is inspired by the prompt |”What Pride Toronto Means To My Family”. This is what Angelique’s Uncle (featured in the image) has to say about the work:Â
“Although I am very close to both my nieces and nephew, we never really had the “conversation” about pride, being part of the LGBTQ+ community because in our family it’s more important that you find love, in whatever form that means so I am incredibly humbled and beyond PROUD that she came up with this concept entirely on her own and I certainly did not expect to be the center of her artwork!. I honestly have never been more proud in my entire life and her artwork captures what my nieces and nephew/family mean to me and vice versa.”Â
