Polly Perry is the CEO and Event Director of Polly Perry Events, An Openmind Group and Co-Founder of the Afro-Caribbean Vegan Market. She has been a part of Toronto’s community for over 20 years. She is one of the pioneers of the Black Queer Event Scene in Toronto. In 2000, a time when there were limited options for the Black Queer Community to safely gather, celebrate, socialize and be themselves; Polly and her business partner Janet founded Club Manhattan which was at the time, the only and still is the longest ran weekly Queer Urban Event Space for POC in Canada. Many of today’s amazing stars graced the stage and the dance-floors of Club Manhattan.
Polly and her team are still responsible for some of the most anticipated yearly events like “ PURE” the elegant All White Dinner Boat Cruise, hosted on a Yacht, featuring excellent music, entertainment, food and more. Polly has used her extensive marketing and business background to create a brand that offers premier events for the LGBTQ2S community, hosted in some of Toronto’s most amazing venues. When many come out to their families they sometimes lose the only connections they’ve ever known. These spaces and these events have connected so many to new families, love interests and friends. These types of spaces were important 20 years ago and they are still important now.
In 2019 she co-founded the Afro-Caribbean Vegan Market to provide a safe accessible space for small businesses to market and sell their Afro-Caribbean inspired Plant-Based products, goods and services.
Over the years she has also been a mentor, used her network and platform to share information, create employment and opportunities for entertainers and artists. She supports various causes and organizations by donations and by participating in the production of fundraisers and more.
She plans to grow the scope of her businesses to include more workshops, networking and business development events.
