This year, Pride Toronto is embarking on the development of a 3-year strategic plan that identifies strategic directions, goals and priorities to guide the work of the organization.
In the summer of 2021, a Request for Proposal was made for consultants to work on this strategic plan with Pride Toronto’s Strategic Planning Committee, composed of four Board members, two staff members and one community member. Upon reviewing all candidates and conducting interviews, the Strategic Planning Committee chose the joint proposal from Elevate Equity and REFLEX Urbanism to move this initiative forward.
Elevate Equity is Toronto’s first trans-led organization promoting employment equity for racialized trans and nonbinary communities. Their programming, services, and work is specifically catered to facilitating practises for organizations prioritizing trans-affirming environments. Our lead co-facilitator, Karibu Ramos (they them), is a firm believer in the need to engage in innovation as an avenue to workplace transformation and takes a non-traditional approach to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
REFLEX Urbanism is a queer and trans-led practice that is particularly interested in organizations seeking equity in their everyday operations and long-term visions, helping them to develop on a community-driven and place-based approach. Our lead co-facilitator, Darian Razdar, brings 8 years of strategic planning, research and facilitation experience for equity-seeking organizations.
We know that with intersectionality and intentionality we can expect our beautifully diverse communities to engage meaningfully. This means that the Strategic Planning engagement process includes multiple avenues for community members to share their voices. The timeline for the strategic plan is as follows:
- Planning: August 2021 – September 2021
- Consultation and Engagement: October 2021
- Community Survey
The Community Survey will be open for our 2SLGBTQ+ community members to respond to a set of strategic questions. All submissions will be reviewed by 3rd-party consultants.
