The Pride Toronto Youth Committee will once again dedicate their efforts during Pride Week 2008 to creating more youth specific and youth-friendly events for the Queer Youth Community. Our goal is to increase the visibility, awareness and inclusion of youth within the greater Queer Communities during Pride Week. Each year, the Pride Toronto Youth Committee organizes a Youth Contingent made up of youth organizations and individuals to march together in the Pride Parade. Stay tuned for details on how to participate in the 2008 Pride Parade Youth Contingent. Parade starts at 2pm on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Questions? NEW ACTIVITIES LAUNCHED during Pride Week 2007: Kidz Zone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pride Toronto extends its sincere gratitude and continued support to Pride Toronto’s dedicated and remarkable volunteer Youth Committee. The Youth Committee is a terrific group of energetic volunteers- led by two Coordinators whose goal is to generate awareness and visibility for queer youth. Pride Toronto Youth Committee: Partnership and Support for the Queer Youth In Our Community In March 2007, the Youth Committee engaged the Queer Youth Community in a series of community consultations. We wanted to hear from you... and we did. Thank you to all who came out to participate… and our most sincere (or deepest?) gratitude to our gracious “hosts”; SOY (Supporting Our Youth), CTYS (Central Toronto Youth Services), EMYS (East Metro Youth Services) and RyePride. As a result of these consultations, the Youth Committee was able to create some cool and exciting youth spaces and events in 2007 and will continue to build on these for 2008. As always, Pride Toronto is proud to present the Fruit Loopz Youth Stage during Pride Week 2008 in conjunction with SOY. Fruit Loopz will be presenting two stages chock full of programming by youth for youth. If you are an actor, dancer, singer, band, solo artist, deejay, emcee, videographer, or other creative soul, and you are interested in showcasing your talent on the Fruit Loopz stage, check out their website at www.soytoronto.org/fruitloopz.html for submission forms, contact information and upcoming deadlines. Pride Toronto continues to be a proud sponsor of Fruit Loopz, and provides production, security and all logistical costs and support for these stages, funds for artist fees, food, water, and other resources to support the Fruit Loopz volunteers and artists during Pride. |
