Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is one of the most accessible cities in North America. We are within a 90-minute flight for 60% of the U.S. population. Pearson International Airport is located in the northwest corner of metropolitan Toronto 16 miles (25 km) west of central Toronto and serves more than 35 international carriers. Travelers Aid has desks in all terminals in the arrivals area. They are very helpful with maps, brochures, and general travel information. Lester B. Pearson International Airport is the main Toronto airport for handling commercial and business flights. Allow 40-60 minutes to/from the heart of downtown, depending on time of travel. General Information on Transportation from the Airport A one-way trip by taxi from Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport is approximately $40. The Airport Express bus will take you to many downtown area hotels for $14.25. The TTC, Toronto's public transit, also provides Airport Service and is the least expensive method of getting to and from downtown Toronto, however travel time will be considerably longer and it will be necessary to transfer between the ground routes and the subway. Regular TTC fares apply, with full transfer privileges to and from other TTC routes. Adult cash fare is $2.25. Ways to get back and forth using Airport Express (Airport to Downtown Toronto Service): Bus picks up on the Arrivals Level of all terminals. All buses are wheelchair accessible and also have front kneeling doors for easier access. This is a 24 Hour service. Destinations include the downtown bus terminal, as well as several major downtown hotels. Connecting service to other downtown locations is also available for an additional fee. GO Transit: GO Transit operates bus service from York Mills and Yorkdale subway stations to Terminal 2 (Arrivals level) at Pearson Airport. This service operates every 60 minutes, from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Sundays. Travel time from Yorkdale station is approximately 30 - 35 minutes, and from York Mills station approximately 40 - 45 minutes. By Train Toronto is served by the VIA Rail System, the network that provides all rail service throughout Canada (with connections to the Amtrak system through Niagara Falls, New York). Union Station is the name of the train station. It is located on Front Street, between Bay and University (across the street from the Royal York Hotel).
