Libido Party Promises to be a Good Time
This year's Libido party is set to turn on attendees in all the right ways. As a pre-celebration and fundraiser for the annual Dyke March, the party will take place in the Gladstone Ballroom on Thursday, July 1. "It's a great way to celebrate Canada Day," said committee member Mandy Rumbolt. "We have lots of great Canadian talent on the stage. We think it's going to be a really good time."
About 180 people partied at Libido last year, most of whom bought tickets at the door. Rumbolt thinks the event can surpass that number this year and suggests for people to buy their tickets in advance. She said, "We're hoping because we have a really good lineup that we would have a really good turnout."
The event, hosted by Deb Pearce, features a list of performers including Lucas Silveira of The Cliks, Cozmic Cat, DJ Memphis Sugar, DJ Saratonin. Libido also includes a raffle and prizes from companies such as Good For Her, Toronto Women's Bookstore, and Cherry Bomb.
Though the event promises an avalanche of fun, Rumbolt shares that the cause behind the party is not lost. "The Dyke March has had a long history of being a free event," Rumbolt says. "Helping fundraising to support it keeps the event free and helps the Dyke March be able to do what it has always done, which is to serve its community in the best way possible."
Libido doors will open at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 at the Gladstone Ballroom (1214 Queen St. West). Tickets can be bought in advance at Good For Her, Toronto Women's Bookstore, and West Side Stories for $15. Door tickets cost $20.
