About the Campaign
There’s nothing as profoundly human as knowing that you are loved for who you are, wherever you are. The LGBTQ community in Russia love their country and love their families, they just want their country and their families to love them back.
Join the conversation around LGBTQ rights in Russia by sending love to the LGBTQ community in Sochi.
Generate advocacy for HUMAN RIGHTS without ferociously attacking Russia. We oppose state sanctioned terror and hate. They say the LGBTQ community is destructive. We say hate is hate, and we are here to show our love and support of LGBTQ communities no matter where they are.
We are asking the world to demonstrate leadership by rallying and showing support for the people of Russia during the Olympics and long after the last medal is award.
Billions of eyes will focus on the spectacle and pageantry of the Olympics in Sochi, while most will turn a blind eye to an oppressive government regime trampling on the rights of its gay citizens. What will it feel like to be gay in Russia during the Games? Confused? Overlooked? Unimportant? Abandoned? Fearful? Alone?
Letting the gay population in Russia know that they have not been forgotten while the Olympic circus captivates the world, that love and acceptance is more important than what the Games themselves seek to accomplish. Higher, Faster, Stronger may be the Olympic motto, but it should also be the motto for those fighting against anti-gay oppression: Raise our voices higher, spread our message faster, demonstrate our pride is stronger.
With the simple act of sharing a symbol of love for Russians through your social channels, we can ignite a movement that both sends a loud message of protest through showing our profound belief in the power of love to unite the world.
