Pride Toronto announces new dates for WorldPride 2014
For Immediate Release
25 January 2012 (Toronto, ON) - Pride Toronto announced today that WorldPride 2014 in Toronto is now scheduled from June 20 to 29, 2014.
“In the interest of good planning, the new dates ensure Toronto is capable of accommodating the predicted influx in tourism for WorldPride 2014,” said Pride Toronto Co-Chair, Luka Amona.
In determining the new dates, Pride Toronto’s Board of Directors took into account other street closures and events as well as its participants, community members, and volunteers.
“The new dates also bring the event in line with the recommendation of the Community Advisory Panel that Pride Week be moved back into June to reflect the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall riots,” said Pride Toronto Co-Chair, Francisco Alvarez.
Pride Toronto is currently focusing its efforts on planning its 2012 festival. It continues to consult with its partners and affiliate organizations in London, England, host city of WorldPride 2012, as Pride Toronto prepares to host WorldPride in 2014.
