Funkasia

Runs Friday, June 26 on South Stage From 7pm to Midnight

This year's Funkasia edition takes the audience on a journey of colour and joy through sing-alongs, dance-alongs and a Bollyqueer stage spectacular.  Campy, kitschy and fun, from swirling saris to tight jeans, anything goes.
The high-energy music ranges from Bollywood tunes and Indo hip-hop to house and reggae remixes. This unique production has gained momentum since 1997, growing from a monthly party to a full-on stage production that's full of artistic and political drama. Hosted by DJ Zahra, and including Harri Krshnan and the inDance company, Joanne DeSouza and the Chandam dance company, Lopa Sarkhar of Divine Heritage Artistry, Shugamai Grace Johnson of Blessings and Abundance, Jennifer Drummond the belly-dancing psychotherapist, Malika Jaan, the Funkasia dancers, Kumari and many more.  This is a show not to be missed!
