DJ North Star

DJ North Star (aka Jen Buchan) first stepped up the wheels of steel while living in New York City. By doing so, she was realizing a life-long dream, the seeds of which were first sowed when she witnessed trance icon Paul van Dyk play the legendary TWILO many years ago. Now an accomplished DJ in her own right, Jen's musical focus, which remains diverse, has settled primarily on the funky, jackin', sample-heavy underground house coming from names like the Inland Knights, Joey Youngman, and the Sound Republic. Jen is also an aspiring producer who hopes to have her own tracks released soon. With many of her dearest friends identifying with the LGBTTIQQ2S community, Jen is thrilled to have the opportunity to spin her unique style of funky house during Pride Week 2007!

Her new CD You And Me Against the World Baby is a visceral, cacophanous, and raucous collection with relentless refrains and spitball observations; chasing stories of bruised relationships, seasides covered in gasoline, humans and overwhelming institutions, biblical prophecy, deadly addictions, masses on autopilot, the wild west, manifest destiny, famine and the food chain.

They have played with Duchess Says, We Are Wolves, and Crystal Castles, and everyone sang along. You're supposed to sing along.
