2007 Dyke March Honoured Dyke + Honoured Group

Join us in honouring Dykes Planning Tykes, our honoured group, and Rachel Epstein our honoured dyke.

Honoured Group: DYKES PLANNING TYKES
Dykes Planning Tykes (DPT) is a communitybased program for lesbian/bi/queer women considering parenthood. The program provides prospective parents with information to make informed decisions, a forum to grapple with personal and social issues and an opportunity to meet and create community with others. DPT is the first and only course of its kind in Canada and has, to date, run 18 times with over 300 participants. DPT is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and invites all dykes and tykes, their friends, families and supporters to celebrate at the head of the Dyke March. Meet at Church & Hayden for a 2pm start. Specially designed "Dykes Planning Tykes" and "Tyke of a Dyke" red t-shirts are available in advance at the Sherbourne Health Centre, and on June 23 in the Family Pride area.

Honoured Dyke: Rachel Epstein
“Over the past 20 years the whole landscape has changed for LGBTQ parents and our children. In the early 1980s the Lesbian Mothers Defense Fund supported women fighting for custody of their kids. Now, in 2007 we have government-funded programs for LGBTQ parents. Let’s celebrate the gains we’ve made, the beauty and diversity of our families and our radical history!
