Getting to Toronto

  By Air

Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is one of the most accessible cities in North America. We are within a 90-minute flight for 60% of the U.S. population. Nearby cities include Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago and New York.

The Lester B. Pearson International Airport is located in the northwest corner of metropolitan Toronto 16 miles (25 km) west of central Toronto and serves more than 35 international carriers. Travelers Aid has desks in all terminals in the arrivals area. They are very helpful with maps, brochures, and general travel information. Lester B. Pearson International Airport is the main Toronto airport for handling commercial and business flights. Allow 40-60 minutes to/from the heart of downtown, depending on time of travel.

General Information on Transportation from the Airport

A one-way trip by taxi from Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport is approximately $40. The Airport Express bus will take you to many downtown area hotels for $14.25. The TTC, Toronto's public transit, also provides Airport Service and is the least expensive method of getting to and from downtown Toronto, however travel time will be considerably longer and it will be necessary to transfer between the ground routes and the subway.

Regular TTC fares apply, with full transfer privileges to and from other TTC routes. Adult cash fare is $2.25. Further Details see the Route Map to/from the Airport from the City of Toronto and the TTC.

Ways to get back and forth using Airport Express (Airport to Downtown Toronto Service): Bus picks up on the Arrivals Level of all terminals. All buses are wheelchair accessible and also have front kneeling doors for easier access. This is a 24 Hour service. Destinations include the downtown bus terminal, as well as several major downtown hotels. Connecting service to other downtown locations is also available for an additional fee.
