D/A HeadquartersOur headquarters is a rest, social and information centre with a shaded sitting area, water and a scooter accessible washroom. Visit us for access to our wheelchair lending service, attendant care worker, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services, services for the visually impaired and access to mobility assistants. The designated Wheel-Trans drop-off point is right around the corner. Open Saturday, June 28 & Sunday, June 29 2008 from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm |
Wheelchair LoansWheelchairs are available for loan on Saturday, June 28 & Sunday, June 29 from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. To sign out a wheelchair, please bring a piece of photo I.D. such as an LCBO card, Drivers License or Passport. During peak hours, wheelchair loans will be limited to 2 hours at a time.
Wheelchair/Scooter Accessible WashroomsWheelchair/Scooter Accessible Washrooms will be available at the D/A Entertainment Stage Viewing Areas, the D/A Headquarters, the D/A Viewing Stands for the Dyke March and Pride Parade and wherever a bank of public porta-potties is located. |
Attendant CareWe will have an attendant care worker at the Dis/Ability headquarters on Saturday and Sunday. During the Dyke March and Pride Parade, an attendant care worker will be available at our Dis/Ability Viewing stands.
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting ServicesASL/English interpreters will be on site at Safety and Security all weekend long and some roaming throughout the site on Saturday and Sunday. Visual ImpairmentLarge print, Audiocassette and Braille Lending Services at the D/A Headquarters offer transcriptions of the Pride Guide and festival site map. Shade and water are also available for working animals at the HQ as well as at our D/A Viewing Stands & Entertainment Viewing Areas. D/A Viewing Stands & Entertainment Viewing AreasSpecial seating is available at the Dyke March, Pride Parade and at the TD Canada Trust Wellesley Stage and South Stage for those who are unable to stand for the extent of the events or who use wheelchairs/scooters. These areas are equipped with shade, chairs, water, a wheelchair/scooter accessible washroom and friendly area hosts. Access to the viewing stands and viewing areas work on a first come, first serve basis and are non-smoking.
Dyke March & Pride ParadeCome on out and participate in the Dyke March or Pride Parade! Meet us at the D/A Headquarters at 12:30pm or make your own way to the starting points of the Dyke March or Pride Parade. There, a fully accessible air-conditioned vehicle will be available to board for those that cannot walk the extent of the march/parade or who use wheelchairs/scooters.
Wheel-TransFor Wheel-Trans drop-off & pick-up locations consult the 2008 festival site map available in PDF format soon. Coming from out of town?Tourists with dis/abilities who visit Toronto may use Wheel-Trans service for a two-week period per year. Tourists must be registered with the specialized transit where they live (i.e. wheelchair and scooter users). Call Wheel-Trans Reservations to set up your temporary service, after 12:00 pm noon at 416-393-4222.
Establishment Accessibility ListingsFor Wheel-Trans drop-off & pick-up locations enjoy a wide range of restaurants and patios thorughout the Pride Week site that will delight the taste buds of many attending this Pride Week. The Establishment Accessibility Guide will be available in PDF format on the right task bar and will also be made available at the D/A Headquarters during Saturday and Sunday of Pride Week at the D/A Headquarters and information booths.
The Official Pride Guide becomes available about two weeks before Pride Week and will contain maps indicating the locations of the above resources and Wheel-Trans drop-off and pick-up locations.
