What does Pride mean to you? (in < 140 characters)May 20, 2009

Inspired by Kevin Gray's story (told by Dan Towers) titled "What does Pride mean to you?", we asked the same question to our Twitter followers. Here are the answers we've received so far.

@slavecubdan: Pride is not apologizing for who you are when someone else doesn't like it!

@rodiell: Willingness to stand for my individuality. Even though true individuality is nonexistent since it's swiftly retaliated by death, incarceration or mental "treatment". Pride also means a detached hatred of everyone else and thinking for myself.

@Daneil_Baylis: For me PRIDE is a celebration of sexual & gender diversity with friends. To say, "This is who we are and there is no shame"

@torontokooky: #pride means being proud BECAUSE I'm gay, not IN SPITE OF being gay.

@djfunkymonkey: Pride to me means no longer hiding, but standing up for what you believe in. Being who you are 100% no matter who's judging.

@reckonr: For me, supporting PRIDE is supporting equal rights for all citizens.
