Wanna get involved and help us plan Pride Week 2008?Pride Week 2008: June 20th to June 29th
Pride Toronto is a VOLUNTEER run organization. We have over 150 volunteers working year round on 21 committees and our board planning and organizing the Pride Week Festival. Who are these volunteers? They are teachers, activists, writers, students, graphic designers, programmers, web developers, youth workers, firefighters, entertainers, bankers, accountants, city employees, addiction counsellors, real estate agents, consultants, copy editors, and much much more. Be a volunteer with Pride Toronto and make history happen!
All of the hours of dedicated work did not go unnoticed and are one of the reasons that Pride Week is as great as it is. Pride Toronto has four kinds of volunteer opportunities: 1. Weekend Volunteers Every year during Pride Weekend, 1200 dedicated volunteers help to run all aspects of the festival. As if being a part of the action, meeting some fantastic people, and having a blast wan't enough, Weekend Volunteers get an awesome appreciation party, an orientation session, a reference letter, and goodies too! 2. Committee Members All 21 of our committees need volunteers to contribute ideas, creativity, innovation, and commitment to realize the goals of each committee. Committee Members are asked for a commitment of 2 – 3 hours per week year round, with an increase in hours closer to the festival. 3. Committee Coordinators Each of our committees is lead by one or two Coordinators. Coordinators act as the chair of the Committee to ensure the goals and objectives of the Committee are fulfilled. Coordinators are asked for a commitment of 5 – 7 hours per week year round with an increase closer to the festival. Specific committee Coordinators will be required to contribute 15 – 20 hours per week in the two months leading up to the festival. 4. Board of Directors Every fall Pride Toronto accepts applications from individuals who are interested in becoming a member of the Board. For more information about applying to be on the Board of Directors please email volunteer_program@pridetoronto.com. Pride Toronto’s Volunteer Age Policy The volunteer age policy is meant to ensure that volunteers are given the tools to function in their roles in a safe and knowledgeable way and to prevent volunteers from being put at foreseeable risk. The minimum age for volunteers working in any capacity is 16 years. The following volunteer positions are only available to volunteers who are of the legal age of consent (18 years) or older: Thank you to all of the hundreds of volunteers who made Pride Week 2007 a huge success! We celebrated new volunteer head quarters this year, a bigger site, more music, more food vendors, and more volunteer roles!
